Hiking and cycling routes
Camperpark ‘t Schaartven is located near the center of Overloon in the Overloonsche Duinen nature reserve, on the border of Brabant and Limburg. War Museum Overloon
The war museum in Overloon is well worth a visit. It is the largest museum in the Netherlands dedicated to war, and the only museum with a bicycle bridge running through it.
The War Museum tells the story of World War II. This is not just about military aspects, but especially about how ordinary civilians experienced the war.
Overloon War Cemetery
The Overloon War Cemetery contains 274 identified war casualties, including 1 Dutchman. His grave is arranged by the War Graves Foundation. The other victims are members of the British Commonwealth who were killed in action during the liberation of South Netherlands in the Overloon area. The cemetery was established and is maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
Liberation Route Europe
Liberation Route Europe has been certified as a Cultural Route by the Council of Europe. The route connects people, places, and events to celebrate the end of the occupation during World War II and the liberation of Europe. Moreover, the route reflects on the consequences and history of the war through a multinational and multi-perspective approach.
With hundreds of places and stories in nine different European countries, the route connects the main regions along the same route as the Allies in 1943-1945.
